Hiking adventures
I wasn't always an avid hiker. It's been an evolution. My first eye-opening experience was in 2011 on a trip to Yosemite National Park, where we did a few short day hikes including Sentinel Dome and the Mist Trail. However, I really caught the bug in 2015 on a day hike of the famous Half Dome in Yosemite. I've since returned to Yosemite several times, for a total of three hikes of Half Dome and a backpacking trip including Clouds Rest. I continued to want to explore the Sierra Nevada. On a day hike of Mount Whitney - the highest point in the lower 48 states - I learned about the John Muir Trail connecting Yosemite Valley to Mount Whitney. That led to a three-year plan to section hike almost all of the 211-mile JMT. I've also explored the backcountry of Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Grand Teton National Parks, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and more recently did a mix of on and off-trail backpacking in the Wind River Range.
