Snow was coming down so hard I nearly ruined my camera getting this one. Lisa’s Italian Deli on Park Avenue is my local deli, the house of fresh mozzarella, where the sign promises “We’ll make you a hero you can’t refuse.” On the morning of February 23, with the Blizzard of 2026 still in full force, it was closed for the storm like most of Hoboken – no fresh mutz that day. The corner is always red, white and green, but the snow simplified it so much that someone once told me it looked like an Italian flag. Lisa’s has been closed since the summer of 2026, and the neighborhood has been buzzing about its future. I’m hoping the shutters go back up.
