About this photograph

I photographed the Pulaski Skyway at sunset from the Jersey City bank of the Hackensack River, with Kearny on the opposite shore. Opened in 1932, its 3.5-mile chain of steel spans connects Newark and Jersey City across the Passaic and Hackensack rivers and the Meadowlands. Most of us know it from white-knuckling its narrow lanes. From down here, it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of steel in New Jersey.
